About

So, what’s it all about?

Well, in late 2007 when I decided I was going to begin bodybuilding starting in 2008, I also toyed with the idea of building a blog based upon what was going on with it. You know, what I’m doing, what I’m eating, what I’m learning, the progress I’m making – and maybe including some videos, photographs and progress reports.

The thing is, this is going to be the last time I am as I am right now. In other words: never again after this year (2008) will I make such dramatic physical changes in my muscle mass, even with continued training for longer periods afterwards. The biggest and quickest gains for natural bodybuilders are in the first year.

I just think it’s a one off opportunity to capture it all in real-time. It may be interesting for people to follow along, and learn from my successes and failures, and it’ll be undoubtedly useful as time goes on and progress is made.

Think of it as Super Size Me, the healthy version – and lasting a year instead of just 30 days.

But most importantly, I wanted to know for myself, first hand and once and for all, what truly is possible for a regular person who has…

• No prior experience.
• No training partner.
• No coach.
• No gym membership.
• Limited equipment. (Some of which has to be used in an improvised manner.)
• Hardly any money.
• A tiny, tiny workout space.
• Barely any spare time.
• Major reluctance to stick to a ultra-strict diet.

And those reasons are why I’ve called it ‘real’ muscle building. I’m a regular, real everyday person, with everyday limitations on my budget, time, space, experience and so forth. Plus, I’m blogging in real-time, while I’m still a big work-in-progress.

It’s all going to be a big challenge, and I’ve got a steep learning curve ahead of me. I’m learning new stuff all the time, which if you follow the blog you’ll see. Hopefully I’ve got the fundamentals covered, but bodybuilding is nothing if not evolution, so I’d expect the need for change to arise every now and then.

Speaking of evolution, that’s precisely what this blog will be doing. Evolving over time. Right now, I’m just getting everything down which will show up on the main page, in a fairly unordered, rough manner. Eventually, I’ll be adding categories, articles, and adding some order to things. But right now, it is what it is.

My Aim

Although it’s impossible to predict, especially at this early stage in the game, I do have a rough aim. That is to have taken myself from the 182 lb 11 ¼” armed idler I was before I started, to add about 30 lb of muscle, achieve a 14” arm, and ultimately reduce my body fat to a level in which I look very good. And that’s about it.
