I was just thinking (hell, when am I not?) about how much thoughts can effect the outcome of something, such as the results in bodybuilding.
Now, I really don’t buy into all that hocus pocus ‘if you think it, it will happen’ stuff, to tell you the truth, it’s too much like some new age hippie stuff for my liking. But, there seemed to be enough people convinced that positive thought and being relaxed is essential in creating results. But, there has to be some solid reason why, for me…
I did a little research and came up with something which I’d never even really considered before – an actual genuine bona fide scientific reason why negative thoughts can cause bad results in bodybuilding: It affects the nervous system, and anything which affects the nervous system will ruin chances of muscle growth.
It’s obvious, really. We all know that anxiety and stress can have a negative effect on a persons health. It can make them run down, tired, ill, and even lose weight. Negative thoughts make for anxiety and stress, by causing the nervous system to be negatively affected. Hence, a negative outcome all round. Plus, it’s scientific fact that if you are constantly thinking and in this kind of frame of mind, you burn more calories…
Therefore – unlike me at the moment, I freely admit – the best way to be in life is positive, relaxed, and as carefree as possible, and that will yield the best results.
Ok, maybe it’s not a profound thought and you probably already knew this already, but it’s just one way I never really looked at things and it might be of use to someone.
