People worry too much, because they’re told to… by doctors, by the media, by the government. It’s surprising if we manage to go a week without being told that bacon causes cancer, eggs cause cholesterol, coffee causes this, pork causes that.
What a load of b******s.
Ahem, sorry for that outburst. It just winds me up.
Anyway, the point I’m trying to make is, you can’t always believe what your being told when it comes to your health. The government (99% of the time the source of these scaremongering tactics) love to whip up a health frenzy when it suits them.
But, how many times have they being right?
And… how many times have they then contradicted themselves when it suited their agenda later on?
One such issue which is big on everyone’s mind is cholesterol. Big, bad cholesterol which causes arteries to harden and causes heart attacks, so we’re told. Cholesterol which comes from foods which contain fat, and should be avoided at all costs or we’ll all die and all go to hell…
…yet again, more crap, I think.
Eggs are one such food which gets a huge amount of blame for cholesterol issues. Yet, eggs are one of the bodybuilders favourite foods. And we need fats to put on muscle and to keep us healthy.
But what about cholesterol, won’t it come and get us down the line?
Who knows. What if you get hit by a bus if you nip down to the shops?
Lo-and-behold though, many scientists now claim that they discovered something new: that regular exercise is probably the best way to keep cholesterol under control. (Something which none other than Vince Gironda believed to be the answer to the problem decades ago.)
Good old Vince!
P.S. It’s also worth noting that a lot of respected scientists now believe that high cholesterol is a genetic condition which has little to do with diet. I say make your own mind up, get in great shape, be as fit as you can be, and stop worrying about it.
