Crosse & Blackwell Cup Soup Saves The Day!

It’s a funny but frustrating paradox: when I was bulking, finding enough high calorie foods was always a pain to me, and now I’m cutting, finding foods which are low enough in calories is a pain, also.

In my continued efforts to find low-calorie foods to help me lose more fat, I’ve come across some surprising things. I recently opened the cupboard to find that even a tin of tomato soup was several hundred calories and would, with my evening family meal, put me too close for comfort to my calorie limit.

I put it back and slammed the cupboard door shut with hungry disgust…

What else… even a tin of mackerel, 220 odd calories I believe. Too much, since I can’t train or bike until my ankle is better and can only sit on my arse.

No apples today, we’ve ran out. And to be honest, the last thing on my mind right now is running out to shop to buy some more. To hell with it…

Hmmm, what else… ah, what’s this? Crosse & Blackwell Cup Soup, Mushroom.

I’ve tried the tomato and vegetable ones before and they’re nice, but not mushroom… I’ve never really eaten mushroom soup since a not-so-happy experience with the stuff when I was little kid… and that was real stuff… not powder.

I digress. I checked the packet to see how many calories are in it, and it’s only 80. Good. I boiled the kettle up, mixed the sachet, and had a taste. Very nice, for what it is… and if I’d have put some pepper in, it would’ve been even nicer. Oh well.

Really, I should be eating things like mackerel and tuna to keep my protein up, but in all honesty, I just can’t afford it and haven’t been able to for months – not even a single can of tuna or mackerel a day. Pretty dire, but that’s the reality.

Even if I could though, I suspect my calories would be too high to lose much (or any) fat, as seems to have been the case for a good while, until recently.

It’s not all bad though. I do eat more one or two days a week in an effort to keep the bogeyman away without negating my overall weekly calorie deficit. It seemed to work great last week, so it’ll be very interesting to see if this weeks results are on par.

Stay Tuna’d, (craving induced Freudian slip, there…) Tuned.
