A Bit Naff
Today didn’t go too good. I can’t say I’m surprised, really. For the last few days I’ve had a bit of a stomach problem, and I’ve eaten well below my calorie maintenance, anyway – sometimes not even half. That’s what happens when you get up too late in the day and have to chase calories, and don’t have the necessary high calorie foods to begin with, I suppose. My tough luck.
After my second set of bench pressing, it became blindingly obvious I was lacking severely in the energy and strength department, and when you start a workout like that in a bad way, it impacts the mind badly. I got pretty angry, and was a whisker away from abandoning the rest of my training. I didn’t, though.
Fortunately, some of my other lifts went ok, and I got the opportunity to try a few other exercises out, including weighted calf raises, neck raises, and dumbbell kickbacks. I did notice that I felt the strain from the kickbacks in a different part of my triceps; more in the inner region, so that can only be a good thing.
I was hoping to do French curls this month – just as a change from overhead triceps extensions, but it wasn’t to be. Because of the lousy design of my bench, and 2 pointless protruding poles which are used to stack plates on, it’s impossible.
I definitely think after this month I’ll be looking to buy some new, more suitable equipment.
On a different note, I’ll tell you, I feel like the tape measure I have is some tempting evil like the “One Ring” from Lord of the Rings. Twice today I’ve opened my desk draw, and looked at my tape measure, only just managing to resist the massive urge to measure my arms. What the hell is wrong with me…
If this continues, I’ll have no option but to take it to Mount Doom; AKA the rubbish tip.
