Hindu Pushups
Hindu pushups are far more exciting and dynamic than regular pushups, and are an excellent addition to any bodyweight exercises regime.
They are a great workout for your shoulders, chest, and triceps – not to mention helping to create strength and flexibility in your lower back.
Here is how you perform Hindu pushups:
- In a standing position, feet slightly wider than shoulder width apart, get into a position where your palms are flat on the floor several feet in front of your feet, and also wider than shoulder width apart – keeping your feet and hands flat on the floor, and keep your arms and legs straight.
- You should think of trying to make yourself look like an upside down V shape, with your back aligned with your head, aligned with your arms.
- Now, keeping your legs perfectly straight – although you will come off the flat of your feet onto your toes – allow your arms to lower your upper body, while you motion your body in a kind of scooping motion, aiming to get as low to the ground as possible throughout the motion – pushing your upper body up at the end of the movement, and then moving back into the starting position: legs straight, arms straight, palms flat, feet flat.
- You should try to think of the movement as if you are scooping something up on your back.
For a beginner, I would try to do 15 Hindu pushups, for 3 sets.
