It Was A Good Day

Yesterday I trained late, around 4PM. I’ve tried this before, and I felt very sluggish and wished I’d worked out earlier. This time though, I quite possibly had the best workout I’ve had since I started.

I convincingly upped all of my lifts by bigger increments than I normally would, and the strangest thing of all is, while on Monday I certainly struggled with the bench press on the last rep of the last set, as you’d expect; this time, I actually felt I had so much more left in me I did an additional 2 sets… and still felt I could have done an extra set. And this was with 2.5kg more weight.

I’m not sure why I had so much more energy and power yesterday. I walked the dog for an hour, a couple of hours beforehand, so I was thinking I’d be lacking energy. Although I have been eating better, sleeping better, and my technique and control for all lifts is improving all the time. And yesterday, about an hour before my workout, I had quite a late lunch, and a generic Red Bull knock-off energy drink. (Woo… could the magic have been in there?)

Who knows what it was? I suppose it could’ve been anything. But, there’s no harm in trying to replicate the formula again on Monday, and seeing what happens.

    Correction: Actually, it was 3PM I started training; finishing at 4PM.
