I Need To Eat More Calories

I’ve been stuck for a while now. Granted, I’ve had my share of bad luck through injury and illness, which made me drop some weight and set me back a little, but, on hindsight I think I became stuck before then – closer to the end of February.

I recall the heaviest weight on an empty bladder and stomach I ever attained was 92kg, and that was near the end of February. All through March, I didn’t put a blind lb of weight on. Since then, overall, I’ve actually lost weight and I now weigh around 90-91kg with an empty bladder and stomach.

It’s made me think. I know my diet back then was very hectic. I also know that my entire body was un-worked and since it had just been exposed to its first ever full body workout regime, it’s only natural it’d yield quick and dramatic results.

However, on the routine I’m on, I simply don’t believe my gains would stop dead the way they have unless something fundamental wasn’t right. I believe it’s my diet. It can’t be anything else. My sleeping and resting is better than ever. My training is more intense and better than ever. So, it’s got to be the diet.

I just don’t think I’ve been eating enough. You see, at my weight I’ve been aiming to get 3,500 calories, so I have a 500 calorie surplus for growth. Yet, despite nearly gaining back what I’ve lost previously, my gains have come to either a tiny crawl or have stood still. Today I thought about it, and came to the conclusion that: if I were eating a big enough calorie surplus, even if not muscle gains, I would continue making weight gains in the form of fat, at the very least. And I’m not.

So, I’ll be aiming for 4,000 calories from now on, and see how that goes.

Common sense really, I suppose, but hell, some of us have to be idiots!
