Foods High In Protein
Protein is an absolutely essential dietary nutrient which is crucial for the maintenance, repair and overall health of muscular tissue. No bodybuilder in the world could have any level of development without it, which is why foods high in protein form the staple of any bodybuilding diet.
Let’s face it, when one things of protein, usually the first thing that springs to mind is a fat juicy beef steak, or chicken, maybe followed by fish. But, you may be very surprised to learn that meat and fish are actually lower on the scale of the ‘best sources of protein’ than you think.
Not all proteins are equal. Our bodies, due to complex reasons, can often extract and absorb certain nutrients from certain foods easier than others, and protein extraction is no exception.
Each protein source is given a biological value by which their efficiency for growth is determined. The higher the value, the better the protein is absorbed by the body, and thus, the more useful it is.
Egg white is, undoubtedly the king of protein sources when it comes to whole foods, and measures in at 93.7. This is followed by milk (84.5), fish (76), beef (74.3) and rice (64).
So, next time you are looking for foods high in protein, you needn’t look any further than the above list.
